FOS ranks number 1 on WA100 list

The Facility Optimization Solutions (FOS) of CannonDesign team is proud to announce that for the second year in a row we have been ranked #1 worldwide for facility management services by an AE firm in Building Design’s (BD) annual World Architecture 100 (WA100) report! Since 2018 FOS has worked to improve our ranking on this esteemed list, progressing from #4 in 2018 to #2 in 2020 and then finally reaching that top spot in 2021 and again in 2022.

The annual report published by BD highlights the premiere architecture firms in the world and FOS is proud to be included. FOS is a multidisciplinary professional services and software consultancy that provides facility assessments, energy audits and studies, capital planning, ADA compliance, risk assessments, preventative maintenance planning, asset tagging, and job order contracting to facility managers and owners all across the United States. Our physical asset management and software solutions leverage data and knowledge to inform and improve our clients' businesses year after year.

See below what some of the FOS team had to say about our work and why we’re deserving of this recognition. Access to the full “big list” can be found on the Building Design website.

“As a new employee, one of the things I like about working at FOS, besides the attentive and supportive team that has welcomed me, is being part of an innovative company that is creating new and better ways of doing things in a field full of opportunities.”

— Juan Lessey,
FOS Assessment Support

“At FOS, new ideas are not only encouraged – but expected. Change and innovation are imminent, and you get nothing but respect for the new ideas you bring to the table – even if they aren’t able to be implemented.”

— Shannon Chmura,
FOS Human Resources

“I have worked in different Facilities Departments for over 25 years, so I understand the struggles FM staff members face, while also speaking the ‘language’. I've worked in facilities of over 2 million square feet. Facilities that large often complete hundreds of work orders on a daily basis, so I understand better than anyone that facilities are always changing. That's why a dynamic software tool and a team to deliver that tool, like FOS, is so important.”

— Brad Halvorson,
FOS Electrical Assessor

“I’ve had a number of different roles and responsibilities on the FOS team. I think the most important lesson that I’ve learned is to set big measurable goals. You have to push yourself, but you also need the data to honestly evaluate your progress and make adjustments. You need to design metrics and goals that fit the practice and the team and you need to use them. You cannot improve what you cannot measure. Measure often and improve at every opportunity.”

— Nick Derr,
FOS Client Services Leader
