PRSA Buffalo Niagara Chapter visits FOS Buffalo office

Yesterday, FOS had the pleasure of hosting the Buffalo Niagara chapter of PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) at our downtown Buffalo, NY office! The event titled “The New Media Landscape,” was their first of two “sunrise seminars” and was a focused discussion with current new media experts who shared how the media landscape has changed.

The panel included:
Jamil Crews, digital communications manager, Crews Control Media/Say Yes Buffalo
Erica Lipke, social media & content manager, The Martin Group
Greg Pokriki, communications manager, Invest Buffalo Niagara
Lindsay Robson, founder, Blogging Network & podcaster, When’s Food?
Isaac Williams, director of multimedia & digital strategy, Daemen University
Moderator: our own Darra Kubera, director of communications, FOS of CannonDesign

A key takeaway was a point in the discussion centered around trends of younger generations, specifically their search habits, including an increasing use of TikTok for searching versus utilizing traditional search engines. This solidified the importance of creating TikTok content for "how-to" or other informative videos. Overall, the panel provided invaluable insight on the new media tools they are using to reach audiences where they are. As always, planning is key and content calendars are essential for a new media plan.
